About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage accounts and target industrial, data center, hospital, and electrical-contractor customers
  • Sell Shermco’s electrical testing, maintenance, repair, and engineering services
  • Perform direct sales and business development to achieve growth, retention, and targeted sales goals
  • Qualify prospective sales opportunities and determine which to pursue
  • Attain yearly multi-million-dollar sales budgets
  • Develop and implement sales strategies
  • Prepare estimates, sales proposals, and sales presentations
  • Visit assigned accounts regularly to maintain strategic relationships and identify changes and opportunities
  • Maintain industry and technical knowledge based on market requirements
  • Support road shows, conferences, tradeshows, sales trainings, trade organizations, and other sales activities
  • Manage pricing and channel issues involving competitive quotes and cross-selling conflicts
  • Support accounts through sales, purchase orders, terms and conditions, and customer relations
  • Perform job walks and act as a focal point between sales and production
  • Support lunch-and-learns and lead customer discussions
  • Work with Customer Service to enhance the customer buying experience
  • Support Shermco training events and trade shows
  • Import sales activity into CRM

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education & experience in Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of successful outside B2B sales experience
  • Preference for experience in engineering, industrial, or heavy commercial industries
  • Preference for a successful sales track record in a power-related industry
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electrical equipment testing and maintenance, electrical field services, commissioning and acceptance testing, power engineering, and small-scale electrical T&D or substation construction projects preferred
  • Experience working with or for OEMs, electrical equipment manufacturers, electrical contractors, or commissioning agents highly desired
  • Self-directed and highly motivated
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and oral presentation skills
  • Understanding of profitability and financial measurements
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with customer decision-makers and influencers
  • Ability to prospect new customers and forecast future business
  • Technical knowledge and consultative skills
  • Required overnight travel approximately 20% of the time; additional requirements state approximately 10–20%
  • Basic computer skills with Excel, Word, Adobe, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Able to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
  • Able to pass pre-employment and periodic random drug tests
  • Able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record
  • Able to drive for extended periods, work at a desk/cubicle on a PC, and visit and tour customer sites
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
