About the role
- Oversee daily operations of a large emergency shelter for households with minor children
- Collaborate with Fairfax County’s Office to Prevent and End Homelessness
- Provide leadership direction for Prevention Services, Emergency Shelter & Rapid Rehousing Services
- Ensure best practices are implemented according to program type
- Develop strategies for accomplishment of organizational and program goals
- Support staff in delivering complex case management for high-level cases
- Supervise and ensure coverage of essential duties of direct reports
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Develop and maintain program-specific policies and procedures
- Monitor completion and accuracy of client records and data for audits
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in human services/related field or commensurate experience
- 4+ years of progressive program and staff management
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, teambuilding, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgements
- Creative, flexible, trauma informed
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
- A master's degree in human services/ related field
- Experience leading/supporting programs serving families or individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Experience leading/managing in a residential or shelter environment
