About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain internal tools and scripts using Python to support operations workflows.
- Develop and optimize ETL processes for spatial data into relational databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
- Automate data transformation and processing pipelines to improve efficiency and maintainability.
- Collaborate with operations and product teams to identify opportunities for tool development and automation.
- Troubleshoot and support internal tools and workflows in both production and development environments.
- Ensure code quality through version control, testing, code reviews, and comprehensive documentation.
- Follow best practices in software engineering and continuously seek ways to improve development processes.
- Sit at the crossroads of software development and operations—designing, building, and maintaining automation tools that streamline workflows, supercharge geospatial data processing, and enhance the customer experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant engineering field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in Python development.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial tools such as QGIS, PyQGIS, or GIS libraries like GDAL/OGR, Shapely, or GeoPandas.
- Demonstrated experience in scripting and automating data processing tasks.
- Proficient in SQL and relational databases, with a preference for PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently from concept through to delivery.
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- (Preferred) Prior experience in an operations-facing role or in developing internal tooling.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly AWS, and experience with CI/CD pipeline workflows.
- Must be based locally in the Philippines for compliance with Philippines labor laws and occasional onsite activities.
