About the role

  • Be the go-to expert for payroll and personnel queries, managing the payroll inbox with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies, turning complex issues into smooth solutions.
  • Support managers with timely and insightful payroll reports to aid decision-making.
  • Maintain trust and confidentiality, safeguarding sensitive payroll information at all times.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and HR teams, contributing to a positive and efficient working environment.
  • Proactively suggest and implement improvements to payroll systems and processes to boost efficiency.
  • Take ownership of tasks assigned by senior management, delivering results without the need for follow-ups.
  • Uphold all company policies and procedures, acting ethically and responsibly in every decision.

Requirements

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.
  • You have at least 2 years’ experience as a Payroll Officer or Payroll Assistant in a busy environment.
  • You are experienced with Australian payroll (New Zealand payroll exposure is a plus).
  • You are comfortable using payroll systems like Access MicrOpay or UKG Workforce Ready and can quickly learn new platforms.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with the ability to manipulate data efficiently.
  • You have a solid understanding of accounting principles and payroll practices.
  • You excel at staying organised, prioritising tasks, and managing your time effectively.
  • You have a sharp eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in every payroll process.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • You work independently while maintaining exceptional organisational skills and accountability.
