About the role
- Work denials by correcting, resubmitting, or appealing claims as appropriate
- Adjust accounts in accordance with denial findings and payer requirements
- Provide feedback to leadership and other departments to prevent recurring denials
- Review and investigate accounts flagged for collections
- Perform pre-listing reviews to confirm accounts meet criteria for collections
- Collaborate with collections agencies when accounts are approved for transfer
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies as needed to resolve outstanding balances
- Work directly with other internal departments (e.g., billing, patient services, operations) to resolve account discrepancies
- Provide monthly and ad hoc reporting to management on claim status, denials, collections, and authorization trends
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce claim denials or delays
Requirements
- High School Diploma acceptable with appropriate hands-on experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare preferred
- Billing, collection and fertility experience preferred
- Computer proficiency required
- Excellent spreadsheet skills
- Ability to access, input, and retrieves information from a computer
- Medical software program experience required
- Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and build and maintain effective working relationships
- Strong customer service and results orientation; highly responsive to requests
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
