About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Join our Risk Validation team as a Principal Engineer
  • Enhance the performance and reliability of Severn Trent Water’s wastewater network
  • Drive continuous improvement in hydraulic modelling and design standards
  • Lead evaluation of wastewater network performance to identify and validate existing risks
  • Develop notional solutions for feasibility and design by capital delivery teams
  • Spearhead programme-level hydraulic modelling requirements to meet audit and validation standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams for software and hardware needs
  • Lead hydraulic modelling across multiple projects, delivering results on time
  • Coordinate with Tactical Asset Planning and Capital Design & Delivery
  • Promote innovation in wastewater modelling and engage with industry trends
  • Approve QA documents and review team outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in wastewater network modelling using InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS tools
  • Competence in hydraulic modelling software, including 1D/2D, full 2D, and river modules
  • Comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, sewerage design, and flow survey scoping
  • Experience in pollution mechanisms, UPM manual, and WFD/water quality standards
  • Proven track record of leading large portfolios of work and driving assurance and standards
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Proactive and forward-looking, with the ability to anticipate problems and manage risks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills to present data clearly to various audiences
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to work within time and budget constraints
  • Innovative mindset, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement
  • Ideally have a degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering, geography, or environmental-related subject
  • Being a Chartered Member of CIWEM or ICE is required
