Senior Design Engineer
Severn TrentSenior Design Engineer at Severn Trent designing technical solutions for waste network projects. Leading feasibility assessments and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project success.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead on technical aspects of feasibility and design for a variety of waste infrastructure projects, driving innovative, efficient, environment friendly, safe to build and operate, least whole life cost solutions.
- Carry out feasibility assessments for projects within programmed timescales and within agreed feasibility budgets undertaking site visits, scoping and management of surveys and analysis of data.
- Create civil designs & specifications which include consideration of health & safety; environment; buildability; customer impact; third party constraints/permissions/approvals; commissioning; operation and maintenance; appropriate legislation and regulations and all geotechnical, structural and hydraulic aspects.
- Work with a range of key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of solutions that meet the needs of the Customer, Key Stakeholders and the regulatory requirements of OFWAT and the Environment Agency.
- Provide technical support, and support the development and technical capability of team members through coaching, mentoring and supporting the Design Manager to identify development opportunities for individual designers.
- Undertake activities associated with Severn Trent’s role as Principal Designer - CDM regulations.
Requirements
What you’ll need- You'll be degree qualified (desirable) and showing your professional commitment as a member of one of the engineering Institutions or actively working towards incorporated or chartered status, a journey which we are keen to support you on.
- A background in civil engineering is essential, to come with a water industry background would be required highly desirable.
- Appreciation and/or experience in wastewater hydraulic modelling would also be desirable.
- You will have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.
- You will be a forward-thinking capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment.
- A full UK driving licence will be required.
