About the role
- Support the design and continued development of our Azure-based Global Data Platform (ingestion, storage, processing, serving).
- Contribute to architectural building blocks, reference architectures, and blueprints for domain teams.
- Contribute to the integration of MCP and LLM services, RAG architectures, and agentic AI patterns.
- Implement and document technical components under the guidance of experienced architects.
- Support the development of data products based on Data Mesh principles.
- Contribute to ETL/ELT pipelines (ADF, Databricks, PySpark) as well as testing, versioning, and deployment.
- Ensure adherence to naming conventions, metadata standards, and documentation requirements.
- Apply and help evolve existing platform standards (RBAC, logging/monitoring, CI/CD).
- Use and extend self-service tools (catalog, glossary, lineage, quality frameworks).
- Participate in the standardization of LLM usage, prompt design, and RAG governance.
- Support architecture reviews, security assessments, and technical evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with domain teams, data engineers, product owners, and senior architects.
- Create technical documentation, guidelines, and how-to guides, and actively contribute to the Community of Practice.
Requirements
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
- Initial hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (ideally Azure) and data engineering.
- Basic understanding of data architectures, modeling concepts, and modern data platforms.
- Foundational knowledge in at least two of the following areas: SQL, Python, Databricks, ADF, Azure Storage, CI/CD, Git, API design.
- Interest in Data Mesh, data products, domain ownership, and modern platform concepts.
- Awareness of topics such as security, access control, privacy-by-design, and data quality.
- Structured working style, strong motivation to learn, and enjoyment of collaborating in international, interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills in English; German skills are a plus.
