About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess risk and prioritise work programs to support network safety and integrity
  • Plan and coordinate contractors involved in field data collection activities
  • Conduct accurate field measurements using specialised cathodic protection testing equipment
  • Analyse field data and implement corrective actions to optimise system performance
  • Record and maintain quality asset data to support lifecycle management
  • Prepare timely reports to satisfy regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Provide training and technical guidance to contractors and field personnel
  • Identify trends in system performance and recommend remedial actions
  • Conduct investigations, fault-finding, surveys, and analysis using specialised equipment
  • Support the development and enhancement of corrosion protection systems
  • Assess electrical earthing and surge protection systems to ensure operational safety
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade cathodic protection infrastructure
  • Calibrate and maintain specialised testing equipment in accordance with industry standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience conducting cathodic protection testing on transmission and reticulation pipelines
  • Experience coordinating cathodic protection field testing, including Victorian Electrolysis Committee (VEC) area testing and foreign structure interference testing
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking coating assessment surveys using DCVG equipment
  • Experience using Pipeline-to-Foreign Earth Contact location equipment
  • Experience operating and maintaining field-based data logging systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian standards, industry codes, and quality systems
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret field data and recommend corrective actions
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed technical reports and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with experience training and mentoring contractors and field personnel
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Sound computer and data management skills
  • Diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Engineering (or equivalent) with at least four years' pipeline corrosion experience; or Australian Corrosion Association (ACA) Corrosion Technician Certificate with a minimum of five years' pipeline corrosion experience; or Electrical trade qualification with at least five years' pipeline corrosion experience and a willingness to obtain the ACA Corrosion Technician Certificate
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence
