About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic and technical leadership across the full data lifecycle
- Help clients realise value through data strategy, governance, cloud platforms, integration, analytics and AI
- Understand business challenges and develop tailored data solutions
- Design and oversee secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective technical architectures
- Translate client requirements into target architectures, actionable roadmaps and assured solution designs
- Lead delivery from discovery through production by organising project teams, allocating resources and managing progress
- Coach, mentor and develop project teams and organisational capability
- Support pre-sales through scoping, estimation, proposals and presentations
- Identify opportunities to extend client engagements and grow client relationships
- Apply emerging technologies, methodologies and industry best practice to client solutions
- Ensure solutions meet quality standards, governance requirements and measurable business outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven ability to analyse complex business challenges and design effective, innovative data architectures and solutions
- Strong leadership skills guiding project teams, mentoring colleagues and developing capability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commercial awareness across multiple clients and sectors
- Strong organisational skills, workload management and ability to deliver to deadlines
- Passion for technology and commitment to emerging data and cloud tools, platforms and best practices
- Experience designing cloud data platforms in Azure or AWS, or significant on-premise design experience
- 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, business intelligence or related roles
- Extensive ETL and data pipeline design experience
- Experience with cloud and data technologies including Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Function Apps, Azure Synapse Analytics, AWS Glue, AWS S3, AWS Lambda Functions, AWS Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Alteryx, SSIS or Informatica
- Strong understanding of data warehouse and data lake principles
- Data modelling using Kimball, Inmon or Data Vault methodologies
- Experience with relational database platforms and advanced SQL
- Exposure to Python, R or Spark
- Awareness of AI and ML methodologies and their application in data solutions
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau
- Experience leading or mentoring junior data engineers, BI developers or consultants
- Experience as a technical lead using Agile or DevOps methodologies, including peer reviews and continuous improvement
- Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps
