About the role
- Provide accurate and impartial ASL interpretation between ASL users and spoken English speakers.
- Interpret in real time for calls, customer interactions, or other business-related communications.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the communication needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.
- Communicate professionally with internal teams to ensure effective scheduling and coordination.
- Comply with all applicable accessibility, privacy, and professional standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED: must be able to provide proof of education such as diploma or college transcripts at time of offer.
- This position requires US Citizenship or 3 years of permanent residency.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Demonstrated experience providing ASL interpretation in professional settings.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best practices for accessibility.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during interpretation sessions.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for effective signing and visual comprehension.
