About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Adjudicate first party commercial property claims of significant size and complexity
Inspect, investigate, and adjust assigned losses
Technically supervise expert involvement
Review coverage and inspect damages
Determine cause and origin
Investigate questionable circumstances
Consider subrogation possibilities
Determine building-loss values and prepare damage scopes
Agree with insureds on damage scope
Review and approve repair-cost estimates
Assist with commercial-property inventory and valuation, including salvage disposition
Consult with property-claim personnel on qualifications of independent adjusters, builders, attorneys, and salvage vendors
Evaluate vendor performance and take action to improve vendor-partner performance
Develop or assist in developing figures to measure time-element losses
Mentor staff and oversee experts

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Minimum 10 years of related work experience
Exclusive first party commercial property field adjusting experience over a multi-state jurisdiction
Emphasis on large fire and other catastrophic commercial property losses
Proficiency in Xactimate is highly preferred
In-depth knowledge of on-site claim investigating, adjusting, and negotiating
Knowledge of policies and procedures and accounting principles related to business interruption and business personal property loss evaluation
Ability to analyze and interpret insurance policies and other contracts
Analytical problem-solving skills
Oral and written communication skills
Planning and organizational skills
Ability to make decisions appropriate to the position
Ability to effectively negotiate with others
Ability to apply interpersonal skills appropriately
Ability to meet travel and driving requirements
