About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjudicate first party commercial property claims of significant size and complexity
  • Inspect, investigate, and adjust assigned losses
  • Technically supervise expert involvement
  • Review coverage and inspect damages
  • Determine cause and origin
  • Investigate questionable circumstances
  • Consider subrogation possibilities
  • Determine building-loss values and prepare damage scopes
  • Agree with insureds on damage scope
  • Review and approve repair-cost estimates
  • Assist with commercial-property inventory and valuation, including salvage disposition
  • Consult with property-claim personnel on qualifications of independent adjusters, builders, attorneys, and salvage vendors
  • Evaluate vendor performance and take action to improve vendor-partner performance
  • Develop or assist in developing figures to measure time-element losses
  • Mentor staff and oversee experts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience
  • Exclusive first party commercial property field adjusting experience over a multi-state jurisdiction
  • Emphasis on large fire and other catastrophic commercial property losses
  • Proficiency in Xactimate is highly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of on-site claim investigating, adjusting, and negotiating
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures and accounting principles related to business interruption and business personal property loss evaluation
  • Ability to analyze and interpret insurance policies and other contracts
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to make decisions appropriate to the position
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with others
  • Ability to apply interpersonal skills appropriately
