About the role
- Provide outstanding leadership to a team of underwriters in the Sentry Great Lakes Region
- Work with the middle-market and offer multi-line products to help independent agency partners serve their customers
- Oversee and guide implementation and execution of business strategy and continuous improvement
- Lead a team of underwriters and recommend/implement changes to improve productivity, growth, profitability, and quality
- Interpret underwriting guidelines for larger or more complex files and handle difficult underwriting inquiries
- Coordinate and participate in underwriting training and development programs
- Attend sales team meetings and collaborate with broader Sentry teams in pursuing new accounts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 7-10 years of previous property and casualty underwriting experience
- Leadership experience is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of specific insurance concepts and terminology
- Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skills
- Completion in or currently taking Insurance courses such as IIA and CPCU preferred
- Ability to meet travel requirements
