About the role
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure, including maintaining infrastructure documentation.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies to ensure system resilience.
- Provide support to users, addressing their system-related issues
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on tasks
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem-resolution
- Create and maintain detailed system documentation, guides, and best practices.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing activities to enhance the skills of peers and community users.
- Stay updated with the latest system technologies and trends, and proactively recommend improvements in system processes to align with industry best practices.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Proficiency in system monitoring and performance optimization techniques.
- Understanding of security best practices, backup strategies, and system redundancy.
- Ability to write and maintain automation scripts to improve efficiency.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to liaise with vendors and IT personnel for issue resolution.
- Continuous learning mindset to keep up with evolving technologies.
- Proven experience in system administration, infrastructure management, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and applications.
- Experience in monitoring and testing application performance and identifying optimizations.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages for system efficiency.
- Experience maintaining security and backup strategies to ensure system resilience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Experience in creating and maintaining system documentation, technical guides, and best practices.
