About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner
  • Work in a Sterile IV room for IV mixtures and sterile compounding
  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently in defined areas of pharmacy practice competently
  • Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions
  • Participates in the training of new employees
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)
  • 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)
  • 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)
  • Inpatient Pharmacy Tech Experience (Preferred)
