About the role
- Execute the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, analytics and working papers to prepare accurate financial results.
- Ensure accurate records of cash positions across all entities, currencies and accounts (Treasury).
- Prepare and review month-end and year-end working papers, including Balance Sheet reconciliation reports and functional/departmental analysis reports (Financial Analysis).
- Contribute to year-end audit efforts and assist with production of statutory accounts; prepare regulatory and tax filings in all jurisdictions (Statutory & Regulatory Compliance).
- Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting standards: research technical accounting issues, document conclusions in memos, and monitor changes in standards (Technical Accounting).
- Provide guidance and support across departments (FP&A, Tax, Operations, Legal) on accounting treatment for business initiatives, contracts, and operational changes (Leadership).
- Monitor and maintain internal control processes to ensure compliance with accounting policies and mitigate financial risks; identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Maintain high proficiency in ERP and financial systems; participate in system enhancements, testing, and implementation of new features.
- Lead and optimize invoicing, payment reminders and collections processes in partnership with the Junior Accountant (Revenue Accounting - Order to Cash).
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards, company policy and commercial terms, supported by reconciliations, journal entries and analysis.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure billing and customer alignment and ensure revenue-related compliance requirements are prepared and filed accurately and on time, including commissions.
Requirements
- 2+ years of industry experience in financial reporting, internal controls, or audit-related functions, preferably within a fast-paced startup environment
- Qualified CPA (Canada, USA or equivalent)
- A resilient, flexible, solution oriented approach to addressing areas of improvement, likes digging into issues and enjoys taking leadership in addressing problems
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

- Nice to have: Background in public practice serving manufacturing clients, with hands-on experience in revenue accounting
- Nice to have: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365

- Nice to have: A track record of identifying and implementing improvements that drive efficiencies and business performance
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite
