About the role
- Manage operations, implementation, and monitoring of physical and virtual servers in Microsoft Azure and on-premises data centers
- Coordinate with IT counterparts to assist with information security, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
- Assist in the design and execution for moving on-premises infrastructure/server workloads, as well as applications and data to Microsoft Azure
- Participate in existing and new infrastructure solution evaluations and investigate/test new cloud technologies
- Provide Cloud user management, security, capacity, monitoring and configuring app development tools
- Migrate on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure and configure Microsoft Azure monitoring and alerts for cloud resource availability
- Manage cloud-based Windows and Linux virtual servers and Azure Virtual Machines
- Plan and implement Organizational Unit (OU) structure and corresponding Group Policy configuration
- Participate in build-out and operation of the physical/virtual server environment and develop maintenance schedules for systems equipment
- Work with teams for 24x7 monitoring and response to immediate threats and vulnerabilities
- Responsible for incident handling, troubleshooting, and reviewing new vulnerabilities' effect on corporate servers and systems
- Assist Security Incident Response Team activities and develop/implement sustainable secure operational processes
- Collaborate with network, storage, and virtual server staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of server systems
- Assist in design and implementation of long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software
- Work on server audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferred (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred)
- Generally, requires 5+ years of experience in specialized training and education (such as an advanced degree, certification, or appropriate combination of education and experience)
- 2+ years of experience with Server engineering (specific focus on building and supporting server and enterprise storage solutions preferred); NetApp experience a plus
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure (setup, configuration, design and support)
- Must have solid understanding of information technology and information security, including firewalls, virtual private networks, penetration testing, and other security devices
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of Tier One Server hardware
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of Windows Server technology, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, and CITRIX
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware and Citrix)
- Experience planning and implementing an Organizational Unit (OU) structure, as well as corresponding Group Policy configuration
- Experience w/Azure Active Directory, O365 and Synchronization of entities between On-Premises and Cloud
- PowerShell scripting, and/or Azure PowerShell
- Knowledge of Azure services: AADDS & Group Policy, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking Fundamentals, Azure Storage Management, Azure Resource Group Management, Azure Role Assignment Management, Azure App Service Management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use independent judgment and work under minimal supervision
- Security Engineering Management experience is a plus
- Knowledge of IDS and firewall logging
- Knowledge of Unix, Windows, networking components
- Detailed understanding of internet protocols
- Knowledge of PKI, PGP and digital certificates
- Vendor Management experience
- Audit experience is a plus
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, security standards and compliance issues (FFIEC guidelines, Sarbanes Oxley, GLBA, ISO 17799, Cobit V4.0, and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS))
- Proficient in other IT control areas (i.e., change management, SDLC, Operations)
- Azure Certification a plus
