About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and deliver transportation, municipal infrastructure, and construction engineering projects for clients throughout North Dakota
  • Serve as Project Engineer on construction projects
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, utility providers, and regulatory agencies
  • Perform construction observation, contract administration, quantity tracking, schedule monitoring, and quality assurance activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary SEH teams on infrastructure and construction solutions
  • Represent SEH at construction progress, public, and coordination meetings
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to construction staff, technicians, and junior engineering professionals
  • Support business development through client relationship management, proposal development, project interviews, and pursuit strategies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain North Dakota PE licensure within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience providing construction engineering, construction observation, construction administration, or resident engineering services on transportation and/or municipal infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, contract documents, change orders, pay estimates, and QA/QC procedures
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, public agencies, and project stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Ability to travel to project sites throughout North Dakota as required
  • Reside within commuting distance of the Bismarck-Mandan area or be willing to relocate
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting SEH’s Driving Program requirements
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Preferred: NDDOT, local municipality, or county agency experience
  • Preferred: Construction Representative, Construction Manager, or Construction Engineer experience
  • Preferred: roadway, bridge, utility, water, wastewater, or site development construction knowledge
  • Preferred: client relationship development and business pursuit experience
  • Preferred: mentoring and technical staff development
  • Preferred: managing multiple active construction projects
