About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting Core Claims systems, including claims intake, adjudication, and payment processing across multiple markets
- Build and enhance Java-based applications and services using established engineering standards and best practices
- Develop, consume, and support RESTful APIs integrating internal and external systems with Core Claims platforms
- Write, optimize, and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data access logic
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, quality engineers, and other engineers in an agile environment
- Participate in code reviews for readability, maintainability, performance, and security
- Support production applications by troubleshooting issues, performing root-cause analysis, and implementing fixes
- Contribute to technical modernization, process improvements, and adoption of new tools or patterns
- Use GitHub for source control and collaboration and JIRA for work tracking, estimation, and sprint planning
- Communicate technical concepts, design decisions, and issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience in IT or a related technical or engineering field
- 3+ years of software development experience required
- Experience developing in Java
- Experience creating and consuming APIs
- Experience with SQL Server
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and independently
- Experience with GitHub
- Experience with JIRA
- Excellent research and debugging skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to collaborate with teams at all levels
- Prior claims experience preferred
- Prior Securian Financial experience preferred
- Experience developing in JavaScript preferred
- Experience with AWS preferred
- Must work in-office a minimum of 3 days per week within a commutable distance (90 minutes)
