About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Negotiate technology-focused contracts covering Software, SaaS, Hardware, and Professional Services
  • Mitigate business, financial, legal, reputational, and technical risk through contracting
  • Establish and maintain mutually beneficial long-term relationships with key technology vendors
  • Lead and provide oversight to cross-functional teams throughout the sourcing process
  • Manage technology categories to optimize Securian Financial spend while meeting or exceeding client needs
  • Drive alignment with enterprise-wide goals and key business outcomes
  • Support technology transformation initiatives using a relationship-first approach
  • Lead technology sourcing, contracting, category management, and vendor management activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience with contract law, compliance, and assessing and mitigating risk
  • 2–3 years’ experience with project management
  • Experience negotiating mutually beneficial vendor partnerships
  • Demonstrated skill in data-driven analysis, creative problem solving, strategy creation, and negotiation
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and collaboration across organizational levels
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain productivity while managing high volumes in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on business, risk management, or IT preferred
  • Information technology background or experience preferred
  • Up to 3 years’ experience in technology category-related contracting, procurement, sourcing, or vendor management preferred
