About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Negotiate technology-focused contracts covering Software, SaaS, Hardware, and Professional Services
Mitigate business, financial, legal, reputational, and technical risk through contracting
Establish and maintain mutually beneficial long-term relationships with key technology vendors
Lead and provide oversight to cross-functional teams throughout the sourcing process
Manage technology categories to optimize Securian Financial spend while meeting or exceeding client needs
Drive alignment with enterprise-wide goals and key business outcomes
Support technology transformation initiatives using a relationship-first approach
Lead technology sourcing, contracting, category management, and vendor management activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience with contract law, compliance, and assessing and mitigating risk
2–3 years’ experience with project management
Experience negotiating mutually beneficial vendor partnerships
Demonstrated skill in data-driven analysis, creative problem solving, strategy creation, and negotiation
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and collaboration across organizational levels
Ability to prioritize and maintain productivity while managing high volumes in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's degree with a focus on business, risk management, or IT preferred
Information technology background or experience preferred
Up to 3 years’ experience in technology category-related contracting, procurement, sourcing, or vendor management preferred
