About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide psychological therapy to people living with obesity to support sustainable lifestyle and dietary changes in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Independently implement initial assessment methods and allocate patients to suitable treatment
  • Deliver group-based and one-to-one psychological interventions remotely via video calls and in person
  • Support changes in eating behaviours and physical activity behaviours
  • Facilitate in-person group sessions at South London sites
  • Attend regular multidisciplinary team meetings to monitor patient care
  • Attend clinical supervision with a Practitioner Psychologist to discuss complex cases
  • Manage clinical risk, including safeguarding concerns
  • Maintain CPD, clinical supervision, and BABCP registration requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act
  • Monitor and support patient journeys through the service, including scheduling, attendance tracking, follow-up, GP letters, and protocol revision

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with experience of weight management and/or bariatric experience within a mental health setting, or working with patients in an eating disorder setting
  • Proven experience delivering group-based programmes, with confidence facilitating sessions in person and digitally
  • Solid understanding of obesity and issues faced by people living with obesity, including weight stigma
  • Experience offering weight management support
  • Experience delivering group-based interventions
  • Ability to provide supportive, empathetic, patient-centred care to patients with potentially complex physical and mental health needs
  • Ability to travel reliably to London sites for in-person delivery
  • Confidence working autonomously from home and delivering face-to-face onsite
  • Ability to independently manage a patient caseload and collaborate with a doctor-led multidisciplinary team
  • Experience coordinating healthcare services, including scheduling assessments and appointments, monitoring attendance, following up with patients, writing GP letters, and revising protocols
  • Experience using Excel, Google Sheets, or similar programmes
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced, startup environments; hands-on and adaptable
  • Confidence using technology for patient care, including recording and reviewing patient notes
  • BABCP/BPS registration
  • Postgraduate Diploma as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
  • Some evening and Saturday availability
  • Full driving licence and access to a car are desirable, not required
