About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as the primary surgical first assist in pediatric orthopedic surgery cases
Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform detailed physical examinations
Manage patients across the OR, inpatient floors, emergency department, and outpatient clinics
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
Prescribe appropriate medications and develop evidence-based treatment plans
Direct and participate in comprehensive case management and continuity of care
Collaborate, refer, and consult with attending physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
Contribute to continuous performance and quality improvement projects
Participate in clinical research efforts
Educate patients, families, and fellow healthcare team members
Split schedule between the OR and Ambulatory Clinic based on department needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduation from a nationally accredited physician assistant program
At least one year of work experience in a pediatric or family-focused clinical area
Nurse Practitioners: active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in Washington State
Nurse Practitioners: current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
Physician Assistants: active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in Washington State
Physician Assistants: initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals at hire and maintained continuously, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) in lieu of BLS
Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous certification
Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital before hire and maintained in good standing
Preferred: two years of experience in an advanced practice provider role
Preferred: two years of experience in pediatric health care
