About the role
- Responsible for the collection of relevant, pertinent, accurate and timely ICD-10 diagnosis, HCPCS codes, and CPT procedural codes abstracted from hospital case types
- Supports revenue integrity through review of posted charges for accuracy
- Requires effective use of hospital encoding systems and resources as well as recognizing what data can be abstracted
- Responsible for resolving coding validation and claim edits
Requirements
- Associate degree or two years of college coursework in Health Information Management or equivalent work experience (2 years professional or outpatient facility coding)
- AHIMA: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P or AAPC: CPC, COC, CRC, CPMA
- Preferred Experience in a pediatric acute care setting
