About the role

  • Engage during the development of new reader and writer technologies, including Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR)
  • Integrate those technologies into the factory and bring to volume production readiness
  • May specialize in a specific discipline (lithography, vacuum, plate, CMP, metrology, configuration/product support) within the new process launch space
  • Interact with levels of personnel from Directors to Technicians and Operators
  • Communicate well to foster strong relationships and common understanding
  • Develop and deliver tactical direction on critical issues
  • Prepare and present documented results to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrate good judgment related to technical and business impacts of process change recommendations
  • Design experiments in a way that generates meaningful and accurate results
  • Actively contribute to daily troubleshooting of material, manufacturing process and product design issues
  • Develop skills in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Data Science
  • Support and Develop Automation with Training using Microsoft Power Automate, Python, and OCAPs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field such as Physics Chemistry, Material Science, etc. and 8+ years of experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field such as Physics Chemistry, Material Science, etc. and 6+ years of experience
  • PhD and 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills so as to convey complex and technical subject matter to a variety of audiences
  • Capability to work in a clean room environment and sometimes be on-call to support off-shift issues
  • Demonstrable ability to apply design of experiments and statistical process control techniques
  • Ability to travel to international manufacturing sites on an occasional basis
