Health Information Operations Coordinator
SCP HealthHealth Information Operations Coordinator in remote role managing Emergency Department records and ensuring accurate coding and billing. Building relationships with providers and maintaining data integrity across charts and logs.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Obtain daily Emergency Department log and charts for review
- Ensure all required documents are included in ED chart
- Identify high acuity patient charts for coding and billing
- Review provider documentation for required elements
- Identify non-billable patient charts and document accordingly
- Reconcile patient charts to ED log
- Scan/import and transfer logs and charts within timeframe
- Ensure data quality and integrity of communications
- Return deficient or incomplete patient charts to providers
- Resolve outstanding charts within required timelines
- Submit Inpatient Emergency Response log and charts within required timeframe
- Communicate with Medical Records Assistant Manager
- Build and maintain relationships with providers and hospital personnel
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings as requested
- Obtain completed Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9)
- Assist in additional projects as needed
- Act as liaison between ED providers and hospital HIM Departments
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding bills
Requirements
What you’ll need- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
- Computer literate; able to learn software applications
- Ability to identify technical issues and seek support
- Maturity and professional demeanor to interface with management and staff
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Excellent record of attendance
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to read and interpret procedure manuals
- Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization
- Minimum mathematical skills
