  • Lead a team driving creation of Scout’s East Region U.S.-based renewable energy projects through mid- to late development phases
  • Deliver profitable projects that meet all project milestones
  • Cultivate and retain a high-functioning development team through leadership, mentorship, training, and professional development

  • Address complex issues, develop creative solutions, secure resources, and escalate broader business issues
  • Develop and oversee cross-functional processes, project hand-off guidance, technology-enabled project management, and reporting
  • Establish Scout as a preferred regional partner and develop strategies addressing regional challenges
  • Translate team goals into strategic plans supported by senior management and the team
  • Secure project development strategy approvals and ensure implementation within established frameworks
  • Review project decisions and translate complex details into decision-ready executive materials
  • Participate in senior leadership activities and company performance initiatives
  • Manage portfolio and project budgets, timelines, documentation, profitability, and development schedules
  • Oversee risk-management frameworks and processes
  • Direct contractor strategy, relationships, standards, contract review, administration, and approvals within delegated authority
  • Oversee financial feasibility tools and collaboration with Finance & Accounting
  • Resolve complex commercial matters and develop business models and strategies
  • Collaborate with M&A on due diligence processes and regional opportunities
  • Build relationships with internal subject-matter experts and peer VPs across Development
  • Advance real estate strategy and resolve issues with landowners, communities, and community leadership
  • Coordinate with Resource Assessment and GIS teams to maximize mapping tools
  • Establish frameworks with Procurement, Construction, Operations, Interconnection, and other teams
  • Institutionalize permitting and tax knowledge and resolve complex permitting and tax-abatement issues
  • Oversee studies, consultants, industry best practices, and project risk/opportunity analysis
  • Maintain interconnection information tools and processes for site and system design reviews and approvals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college program
  • 10+ years of wind development experience
  • Considerable experience leading mid- to late-stage development projects
  • Extensive knowledge of real estate, interconnection, permitting, and environmental matters
  • Experience leading growing and maturing teams and achieving financial and operational goals
  • Experience navigating tax equity, construction lender, and other due diligence processes
  • Ability to drive decisions through executive and investor approval processes
  • Strong understanding of project schedule relationships, resource allocation, and risk mitigation
  • Mastery of development of at least one utility-scale renewable energy technology, such as wind, solar, or storage
  • Prior experience with or interest in expanding to other renewable energy technology types
  • Solid understanding of renewable power project value drivers and portfolio-level strategy development
  • Ability to work effectively in a flat organization and leverage colleagues across reporting lines
  • Strong communication, project management, and team-building skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and arbitrate conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow-through
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software
  • Ability to integrate technology into core business processes and functions
  • Willingness and availability to travel as needed
