About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for flexible packaging materials
Manage market trends, supply assurance, quality improvement, supplier development, sustainability, and financial and supply risk mitigation
Manage relationships with manufacturing facilities
Develop and implement cost savings projects and financial forecasting
Negotiate and execute contractual agreements according to company policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with established processes and procedures
Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies
Foster and maintain supplier relationships
Lead supplier selection and development with R&D, Marketing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams
Develop innovative products across Scotts Miracle-Gro brands
Ensure suppliers follow sustainability guidelines and implement required actions
Evaluate supplier capabilities, cost structures, risks, and partnership potential
Develop and grow one remote direct report
Travel domestically and internationally as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree focused in Supply Chain Management, Packaging, Procurement, Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 4 years of experience within Procurement, Sourcing, or Purchasing
Ability to coordinate numerous material requirements for multiple plants and contract manufacturing facilities simultaneously
Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials
Ability to effectively navigate a regulated industry
Knowledge of technical R&D and vendor language and Brand and Purchasing business language
Strong computer skills, including SAP, SAP/PLM, and Microsoft Office
Some international purchasing experience or responsibilities preferred
Ability to communicate with multiple departments
Consumer Products or Retail experience a plus
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
