About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise and support senior leaders, managers and staff throughout all stages of the employee lifecycle
  • Coach stakeholders toward effective people and business solutions
  • Support management teams in applying Scottish Government HR policies and procedures
  • Handle attendance management, disciplinary, grievance and performance casework
  • Advise and support the recruitment process and ensure local governance processes are followed
  • Undertake projects supporting the FSS People Strategy and Workforce Plan
  • Improve HR systems, processes and service delivery
  • Analyse data and produce HR reports and metrics to identify trends and risks
  • Matrix manage the HR Co-ordinator and ensure high-quality customer support
  • Represent HR at working groups and programme boards
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate level membership of the CIPD or equivalent
  • Knowledge of key HR policies, processes and employment legislation
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply HR policies and legislation
  • Ability to assess issues and risks and escalate when required
  • Ability to use HR systems and source and interpret data
  • Ability to record and maintain system data effectively
  • Experience building and managing relationships and partnerships
  • Experience building capability and using data and evidence to make decisions and influence
  • Communicating and Influencing – Level 3
  • Working Together – Level 3
  • Making Effective Decisions – Level 3
  • Managing a Quality Service – Level 3
  • Existing and ongoing right to work in the UK
  • Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
  • CV and supporting statement of no more than 1000 words
  • Ability to attend an interview and presentation if invited
