About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own features end-to-end from ambiguous founder input through live production
Translate documented user journeys into technical specifications, full-stack implementations, and automated E2E coverage
Set engineering standards for coding agents and configure MCP servers
Build and maintain production-grade Playwright suites for critical journeys
Define SLOs and instrument observability using Sentry and OpenTelemetry
Carry incident response for owned surfaces
Design and maintain GDPR-aligned systems using EU-only hosting infrastructures
Document architectural decisions in ADRs
Participate in high-bar technical debates
Conduct 30-minute calls with Jobcenter caseworkers in German

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven track record shipping complex production systems end-to-end
Ideally early-engineer experience at a startup or within a high-bar product team
Fluency in TypeScript across the entire stack
Experience with Next.js 15+ and React 19+ (App Router, Server Components, Server Actions)
Experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM such as Drizzle or Prisma
Daily, fluent use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent
Production-grade experience with Playwright or Cypress
On-call incident response experience
Structured logging experience
Baseline literacy in GDPR/BDSG (§32 BDSG) is a strong plus
Highly autonomous DRI mindset without manager-led sprints or ticket setting
Exceptional written English (C1+)
Professional proficiency in German required for calls with Jobcenter caseworkers
