Human Resources Coordinator
ScholasticHR Coordinator supporting the HR zone team at Scholastic. Performing administrative tasks and assisting with various HR functions in a hybrid role.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Help support our zone HR team
- Perform administrative tasks as well as support a wide range of other HR functions
- Partners with HRM to provide employees and managers with first line communications for daily issues/questions about HR practices, policies and procedures
- Administer and maintain employment record reporting including bi-weekly Seasonal Leave of Absence, and other recurring/year-round activity
- Leads recruitment support activities seasonally and ongoing through the year
- Process and administer assigned payroll and HR Services for the zone
- Supports biweekly payroll processing (entering time off requests) for HRM approval
- Respond to state unemployment claims for assigned area
- Administer termination documentation and processing audits
- Point of contact for all employment verification or special request needs
- Facilitate the random testing program, by assigning tests in the system and tracking results
- May support or participate in training for new hires or policy/program changes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate Degree in Business or related field, or its work equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in an HR environment or a related field is strongly desired
- Background in any of the Human Resources disciplines: Recruiting, Organizational Development, Training, Total Rewards, Safety/Health, Employee Relations, or other government Compliance Regulations preferred
- Maintains a high degree of Confidentiality when handling sensitive company and employee information
- Team-oriented, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong business process and customer focus; detail-oriented with an ability to see and respond to needs in a succinct way
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Results orientation with a strong track record of success in delivering on objectives
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills
- Listening, reasoning, and analytical skills with a balance of service and empathy in business relations
- Clear and understandable oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to the Scholastic Mission and Operating Principles
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, i.e., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with an HCM (Workday) is desirable
