About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform tasks related to classification and analysis of imagery for purposes such as land use and land cover mapping, change detection, thematic mapping, and others;
- Analyze, edit, and digitize geographic data;
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and other company systems to perform analyses and process generation of geospatial information;
- Generate information to populate spatial databases;
- Assist in the preparation of manuals and documentation for geospatial processes;
- Perform other related activities as directed by management.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Cartographic Engineering, Forest Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geoprocessing Technology, Geography, Biology, or related fields.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience in satellite image interpretation for land use and land cover classification.
- Basic experience in digitization/vectorization using QGIS or ArcGIS.
- Basic knowledge of cartography, remote sensing, and geoprocessing.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of photointerpretation and image classification.
- Basic knowledge of Brazilian biomes, including vegetation types and the socio-environmental dynamics of each.
