Pharmacy Assistant – Pharmacy
Scarborough Health NetworkPharmacy Assistant performing technical and clerical functions in three hospitals and eight satellite sites. Responsible for quality control and medication handling.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Transporting medications and picking up prescriptions
- Pre-packaging
- Preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds
- Stock replenishment
- Filling prescriptions
- Quality assurance activities including but not limited to: expiry date checking, medication storage area inspections, audits, gathering patient information
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pharmacy Technician program graduates awaiting registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Minimum of 1 year related experience
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
- Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience with unit dose drug distribution systems and IV admixture services (Asset)
- Ability to speak another language (Asset)
