About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare 2D drawings and 3D studies using CAD tools, primarily CATIA V5, following criteria established by the TRATON Group standards (STDs, CVS, PDs and TBs) and creating new standards when necessary to develop solutions that increase the added value of TRATON products for customers.
- Work in synergy with R&D sub-areas, Purchasing, Customers, Suppliers, Production, Commercial areas (TRATON business value chain), group companies and other interface areas in the development and continuous improvement of current products, holding technical meetings in-person or remotely, analyzing requests from participating areas regarding part, component, system and complete product properties to meet customer needs and reconcile supplier and partner demands, always seeking continuous improvement.
- Execute, evaluate and oversee, when necessary, functional, environmental and electrical tests and propose testing methodologies, analyzing the behavior of products, parts or components using specialized software and utilizing laboratories and test tracks, in order to comply with applicable regulations and legislation and TRATON criteria.
- Analyze product specification deviations and develop technical proposals based on information received from various TRATON areas and brands, reviewing HW and SW requirements, performing tests and measurements, and discussing with suppliers and interface areas to ensure product durability, reliability, availability and safety.
- Document product development activities (modification or introduction of new functionalities), updating TRATON-specific forms or systems (ECO, PDs, FRAS, 3Dexperience, etc.) so that any TRATON engineering area worldwide has access to up-to-date information.
- Provide information to TRATON Global Product Engineering (Sweden, Germany, United States and Brazil), reporting changes and/or improvements via the FRAS system, emails and/or in-person or remote meetings, working on problem, failure or breakdown resolution to transfer data about product use in the field in Latin America.
- Represent TRATON to customers, suppliers and educational institutions on technical product matters, participating in seminars, conducting technical visits and certifying technical reports in order to meet legal requirements and pursue product improvements and solutions.
- Occasionally represent the team in meetings based on knowledge and experience, with the autonomy to respond technically on behalf of a project, process or business, with the goal of providing the necessary information to stakeholders.
- Develop/Design/Update wiring harnesses, seeking quality improvements and cost reduction opportunities that affect performance and safety.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or related fields, with active CREA registration or eligible for immediate CREA registration upon hire.
- Experience in vehicle electrical development, wiring harnesses and/or routing.
- Knowledge of CATIA V5, preferably the Electrical Harness Installation (EHI) module.
- Fluent English — will occasionally lead global initiatives and tasks.
- Microsoft 365 (Office).
