About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the development and maintenance of all Scale to Win products and software.
  • Build and develop new features and products while ensuring the continued functionality and integrity of all existing systems.
  • Maintain existing product suite and strategically build for the future to ensure client needs are met.
  • Contribute to system design, technical architecture, and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end customer features.
  • Participate in sprint planning, task estimation, and release deployment processes.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members.
  • Respond to production outages and support cross-functional client technical requests.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience and a proven track record of leading multi-sprint projects from requirements to shipped products.
  • Design and operate distributed systems at scale capable of handling unexpected traffic spikes using resiliency patterns such as rate limiting, retries, queuing, backpressure, and graceful degradation.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node, PostgreSQL, and AWS managed with Terraform.
  • Experience integrating third-party services and gracefully handling service failures (carrier or telephony experience is a plus).
  • Write clean, readable, and maintainable code, prioritize quality to prevent production errors, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable leading incident response to prevent recurrence, participating in a night/weekend on-call rotation, and working extra evenings or weekends during peak election seasons and high client volumes.
