About the role

  • Review architectural and construction drawings to identify specific requirements related to glass and glazing.
  • Perform detailed takeoffs for storefront systems, curtain walls, glass panels, aluminum framing, and door/window units.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and structured cost estimates.
  • Assist in preparing customer quotes based on provided pricing frameworks and vendor inputs.
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare and verify drawings specifically for windows, doors, and glass systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, elevations, sections, and technical specifications.
  • Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, or assumptions in drawings and coordinate with teams to clarify technical details.
  • Perform necessary engineering calculations and project estimations to ensure structural and material integrity.
  • Utilize internal software to generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and product calculations.
  • Use Excel to build estimating worksheets and maintain organized project records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering OR a Diploma in Civil Technology/Architectural Drafting.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential for window/door detailing).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for complex data sets and formulas.
  • Familiarity with takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or On-Screen Takeoff).
  • 2–5 years in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or architectural takeoffs.
  • Prior exposure to commercial projects required; glass, aluminum, or façade experience a strong plus.
  • High numerical accuracy, ability to interpret complex technical drawings, and capability to explain estimating logic clearly.
