About the role
- Partner directly with our CEO and COO to design, architect, and build the technical foundation that powers Savoy Life’s caregiving‑first model.
- Own the creation of our data infrastructure, intelligence layer, and early products that unify caregiving and clinical data—enabling risk stratification, clinical decision support, and scalable continuous care.
- Implement and own the technical strategy for AI‑enabled clinical signals, early‑risk detection, sentiment analysis, and proactive care workflows.
- Leverage LLMs to power both conversational, virtual rounding, and structured clinical summaries.
- Use AI‑native tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, GitHub tools, agents) to accelerate prototyping and development velocity.
- Create our data infrastructure, automated AI/BI driven insights, and BI querying.
- Build and scale ETL pipelines that ingest data from QHIN data, HIEs, internal Savoy tools and potentially beyond.
- Ensure data integrity and traceability across a wide variety of structured and unstructured inputs.
- Build Savoy’s platform with HIPAA compliance and senior‑care regulatory needs from day one.
- Implement secure data storage, encryption, auditing, access control, and monitoring frameworks.
- Establish and enforce best practices for uptime, reliability, and operational readiness.
- After building the first versions of our product, recruit, mentor, and develop engineers as the organization scales.
- Establish engineering culture, SDLC practices, architectural standards, and performance expectations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record of building and shipping complex, high-impact products.
- Experience designing and scaling backend systems, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and data platforms.
- Comfortable owning technical architecture end-to-end in a fast-moving startup setting.
- Expertise in database design, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience deploying secure, scalable systems on AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Experience with clinical data structures (EHR, care notes, vitals, symptoms), healthcare integration standards (FHIR/HL7), or related domains.
- Understanding of HIPAA, PHI handling, and the nuances of clinical workflows.
- Experience using LLMs to build production features (NLP, summarization, conversational AI, risk prediction, or agent frameworks).
- Comfortable with prompt engineering, model selection, and grounding strategies.
- Deep understanding of secure system design, encryption standards, access control models, auditability, and threat modeling.
