About the role

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of bank reporting and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with federal regulations
  • Prepare detailed monthly reconciliation of the Head Start bank account
  • Draft wire payments through Head Start bank account as necessary
  • Oversee other various bank activities such as monthly interest payments, cash flow forecasting, analyze fraud alerts, coordinate with internal Treasury team, etc.
  • Manage the Award Management Systems for all assigned areas of financial oversight
  • Assist in reviewing financial reports for federal grants
  • Manage, review, monitor and approve timely submission of expenses, employee advances, credit card reconciliations and vendor invoices for payment
  • Monitor census information for vacancies
  • Perform necessary accounting and financial analysis/reporting tasks
  • Prepare Gift in Kind entries for accounting
  • Lead in monitoring reviews and audits
  • Manage the self-audit process for all programs
  • Share best practices and knowledge within the Head Start functional areas, especially in relation to federal regulations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the organization and lead special projects
  • Review and edit standard operating procedures annually for changes

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with financial systems/ERPs and reporting tool
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to federally funded programs
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite with advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data validation)
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Experience supporting or leading audits, monitoring visits, and compliance reviews, including documentation gathering and corrective action follow-up
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end reconciliations, banking activity, and payment processing
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive financial and program information.
