About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the Radiological Control Programs for assigned facilities and/or areas
  • Coordinate Safety & Health Programs, including Safety and Industrial Hygiene
  • Formulate and implement policies and practices to protect employee radiological health
  • Provide management oversight for adherence to DOE, regulatory, and company rules
  • Maintain programs protecting employees, the public, and the environment
  • Direct and integrate facility Radiation Protection Programs
  • Coordinate with Business Unit Safety, Health & QA management and facility teams
  • Resolve technical issues and oversee Conduct of Operations program improvements
  • Ensure RadCon and facility operations personnel follow the Site Radiological Control Manual
  • Lead and guide managers, professionals, and nonexempt personnel
  • Manage personnel qualification programs
  • Develop facility-specific plans and procedures implementing Site and DOE policies
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain exposures ALARA
  • Oversee Operational Readiness Reviews, facility startup, radiation exposure, and contamination control
  • Conduct management walk-throughs and surveillances
  • Provide input to occurrence reports and author formal audit and surveillance responses
  • Represent the Radiological Protection Department on radiological protection issues
  • Develop facility business planning systems and coordinate manpower requirements
  • Oversee radiological control training and qualification programs
  • Evaluate radiological events and communicate lessons learned
  • Promote a safety and total quality culture
  • Administer employee HR issues and support personnel development through training and counseling
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or related field
  • Progressive experience in the field
  • Minimum of four years nuclear experience
  • Must stay current on GET and RadWorker Training Phase II or equivalent
  • US Department of Energy (DOE) site experience preferred
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and requirements pertaining to radiation and health physics preferred
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certified preferred
