About the role
- Perform and coordinate survey activities to support Construction, Operations and Maintenance initiatives at the Savannah River Site
- Interface with Engineering, Supervision, Operations, and Design to perform assigned tasks
- Generate excavation layout sketches and modify site maps as required using applicable survey software
- Monitor and control schedule/budget and manage planning and performance of field activities
- Manage and coordinate survey work activities/crews performing field surveying in support of construction/maintenance activities or operations requests
- Provide technical and operational direction to survey crew members and act as Party Chief for Senior II level
- Operate a variety of survey equipment and instruments, including total stations, GPS, survey levels, data collectors, and Ground Penetrating Radar
- Responsible for operation of GPR to locate underground interferences and embedded commodity interferences
- Provide precision dimensional verification, precise dimensional layout support for critical equipment/commodities, and topographic/boundary surveys
- Prepare detail drawings and sketches using Micro-station, perform interference research for excavations, and prepare as-built field maps for Site Maps upgrade
- Monitor and ensure survey equipment calibration and perform walk downs to review designs for constructability
- Provide interface with applicable organizations for safety and security concerns; may mentor others and contribute to planning and performance of projects
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and relevant construction experience as defined in the job description
- Working knowledge of survey / layout and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment
- Thorough understanding of practices required to perform various survey activities
- Experience operating a variety of survey equipment and instruments (total stations, GPS/GNSS units, survey levels, data collectors)
- Responsible for operation of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment to locate underground interferences and embedded commodity interferences
- Provide precision dimensional verification of commodities during fabrication or as-builts and precise dimensional layout support for critical equipment/commodities
- Ability to provide Topographic and Boundary surveys in accordance with site procedures and tolerances
- Prepare detail drawings and sketches using Micro-station, including interference research for excavations and information sketches
- Prepare as-built field maps for use in Site Maps upgrade
- Monitor/ensure survey equipment is calibrated
- Perform walk downs and review designs for constructability relative to survey / layout
- Provide interface with applicable organizations for safety and/or security concerns
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- Preferred: Basic training / experience in use of Trimble Total Station survey equipment, Robotic Total Station, GPS/GNSS Units
- Preferred: DINI Level Access Data Collection Software, Trimble TSC2 or TSC3 Data Collection
- Preferred: Basic training and/or experience in use of 3D Laser Scanning Technology
- Preferred: Basic training and/or experience in use of GPS Survey Technology
- Preferred: Experienced in survey network control
- Preferred: Familiar with Carlson Survey Software
- Ability to manage and coordinate survey work activities/crews and provide technical/operational direction
