About the role
- Manage engineering segment and multiple departments of engineering and technical staff to support unit and company mission
- Direct accomplishment of multiple large projects, small projects, division managed modifications, and other operating engineering support in the Defense Waste Processing Facility
- Identify/promote innovation and implement cost-saving and efficient design techniques
- Lead or participate in unit and company-wide initiatives to resolve programmatic issues and improve resource and operating efficiency and quality
- Identify unit needs based on facility/program owner requirements and allocate resources
- Develop forecasts for resources, subcontractor support and equipment procurements and reconcile against budgets
- Provide direction for corrective actions and monitor progress to ensure quality standards are met
- Ensure execution of activities consistent with expected quality, cost and schedule and aligned with company objectives
- Develop and direct implementation of technical programs to bring existing programs into compliance with new and revised requirements
- Provide technical expertise and input to Engineering Standards Board, Technical Committees, and DOE HQ sponsored committees
- Establish and maintain communications/interfaces with internal and external groups including regulators
- Serve as a management resource for resolution of complex engineering issues
- Champion a safety conscious work environment and develop engineering personnel through training, coaching, and counseling
- Manage engineering subcontractor activities, authorizing new work and approving changes to the baseline as needed
Requirements
- BS in Engineering or related technical or science degree
- Progressive engineering experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience including previous direct people management
- Project or Engineering Management experience
- Must be based in Aiken, SC (Savannah River Site)
- May fall under DOE Order 426.2 and must meet conditions as applicable
- On an exception basis equivalencies for education and experience may be applied
- Preferred: chemical and/or nuclear material knowledge
- Preferred: Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, and DOE orders
- Preferred: Current SRMC work experience
- Preferred: High Level Waste, Commercial Nuclear Power, DOE Nuclear and/or Naval Nuclear management experience
