About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and take ownership for cost estimating of bids data center project proposals
  • Identify risk, opportunities, and maintain a winning strategy
  • Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, data center mechanical blueprints, specifications, and other documentation
  • Prepare quantity take-offs for foundations, structural steel, pipe, and process equipment
  • Apply work hour unit rates for each item in the estimate to generate overall direct work hours
  • Understand construction equipment requirements
  • Understand temporary facilities requirements and field non-manual staffing requirements
  • Assist in soliciting quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers
  • Distribute and maintain control of bid documents
  • Identify special client or project requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, HES requirements and services
  • Analyze project location and associated productivity
  • Review labor costs and applicable licensing requirements
  • Ensure all bid forms are completed and properly executed
  • Facilitate bid review meetings with Business Unit Management, estimating group, and/or business line management to finalize bids
  • Coordinate with other departments during the bid process on proposals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1 or more years’ experience with mechanical estimating for EPC, data centers, or 3-5 years of a mix of Oil and Gas industry experience & data centers
  • Working knowledge of estimating software; MC2 a plus
  • Competitive bid experience in petro-chemical, power, gas processing, refining and other heavy industrial facilities
  • Construction field experience highly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Knowledge of estimating Best Practices
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, ethical, and team player willing to grow with the company
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit 1/3 to 2/3’s of the scheduled work shift
  • Ability to read engineering blueprints and reduced size black and white drawings, specifications, fine print, reports, schedules, estimates and other documents in either hard copy or on computer monitor
  • Ability to observe construction progress outdoors by walking or driving to or on the site over rough or uneven terrain, which may be dusty, muddy, wet and noisy
  • Follow safety regulations while on jobsite visits including the wearing of proper attire, safety gear, protective hat, safety glasses and shoes as required
