About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and drive the SAS data governance framework, including policies, standards, processes, and ownership model
Build and maintain the enterprise data catalogue
Document and keep metadata, definitions, lineage, and ownership up to date
Establish and monitor data quality standards across customer, loyalty, commercial, and operations domains
Lead the data stewardship network across business units
Ensure accountability at domain level
Collaborate with Legal, Security, and IT on regulatory compliance
Drive data classification and access management practices with IT Security
Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects, Legal, and business stakeholders
Embed governance into data products and pipelines

Requirements

What you’ll need

A degree in information management, computer science, data management, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related discipline
Hands-on experience with data catalogue tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Microsoft Purview
Experience with data quality platforms
Strong understanding of data management frameworks
Experience defining data ownership models
Experience partnering with business and technical data stewards
Knowledge of GDPR and data privacy regulations and their practical implications for data governance
Ability to translate technical data concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Structured, methodical approach and ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
Ability to pass a background check for a security-classified role
