About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and drive the SAS data governance framework, including policies, standards, processes, and ownership model
- Build and maintain the enterprise data catalogue
- Document and keep metadata, definitions, lineage, and ownership up to date
- Establish and monitor data quality standards across customer, loyalty, commercial, and operations domains
- Lead the data stewardship network across business units
- Ensure accountability at domain level
- Collaborate with Legal, Security, and IT on regulatory compliance
- Drive data classification and access management practices with IT Security
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Architects, Legal, and business stakeholders
- Embed governance into data products and pipelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- A degree in information management, computer science, data management, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related discipline
- Hands-on experience with data catalogue tools such as Collibra, Alation, or Microsoft Purview
- Experience with data quality platforms
- Strong understanding of data management frameworks
- Experience defining data ownership models
- Experience partnering with business and technical data stewards
- Knowledge of GDPR and data privacy regulations and their practical implications for data governance
- Ability to translate technical data concepts into clear business language for non-technical stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Structured, methodical approach and ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to pass a background check for a security-classified role
