About the role
- Design, develop, commission and test embedded software/firmware to provide machine control solutions
- Develop electronic solutions to provide machine control and signal conditioning functionality for new and existing products
- Develop technologies to interface between hardware and software elements of products
- Collaborate with project team members to develop interface protocols
- Provide support and training for machine control sub-systems across all products
- Contribute to and organise design reviews with peers and other groups from across the business
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Electronics with Embedded Software Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience of firmware design for machine control and automation purposes
- Developing firmware for ARM based microcontrollers
- C / C++ and embedded software using both RTOS and Super Loop architectures
- Electrical/electronic communication protocols and hardware, such as RS232, RS422, RS485, USB and Ethernet
- Analogue electronics design including small signal handling and processing for input into microcontrollers
- Using electronic CAD packages for schematic capture and PCBA layout
- Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics design
- Strong planning skills
- Natural ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Adaptable, self-motivated and proactive team player with good problem-solving skills
