About the role

  • Design, develop, commission and test embedded software/firmware to provide machine control solutions
  • Develop electronic solutions to provide machine control and signal conditioning functionality for new and existing products
  • Develop technologies to interface between hardware and software elements of products
  • Collaborate with project team members to develop interface protocols
  • Provide support and training for machine control sub-systems across all products
  • Contribute to and organise design reviews with peers and other groups from across the business

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Electronics with Embedded Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience of firmware design for machine control and automation purposes
  • Developing firmware for ARM based microcontrollers
  • C / C++ and embedded software using both RTOS and Super Loop architectures
  • Electrical/electronic communication protocols and hardware, such as RS232, RS422, RS485, USB and Ethernet
  • Analogue electronics design including small signal handling and processing for input into microcontrollers
  • Using electronic CAD packages for schematic capture and PCBA layout
  • Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics design
  • Strong planning skills
  • Natural ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Adaptable, self-motivated and proactive team player with good problem-solving skills
