Key responsibilities & impact

Guide a team of structural engineers
Interface with engineers from other disciplines and directly with clients
Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and nuclear power plant upgrades and modifications
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
Work as a member of an engineering and design team on projects for various clients
Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations
Develop specifications
Work with designers on drawing development
Prepare, review, or guide structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations
Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Lead engineering problems from issue to solution using data, automation, AI, or agentic AI tools
Set expectations for modern-tool usage to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
Direct automation and process-improvement work, including automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, and generating design documentation
Guide when and how AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
Oversee engineers who program or script to automate engineering tasks and review automated outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need

BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
12 or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of industrial / heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
Good written and verbal communication skills
PE or SE license
U.S. work authorization; the company does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position
MSCE degree is valued but not required
On-site construction support experience is valued but not required
Willingness or ability to lead others using modern tools such as automation and AI
Additional learning or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not required
Oversight of engineers programming or scripting in Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required
