About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform transmission system planning and analysis, including load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient studies
Support utility planning and advisory projects for ISO/RTOs and electric utilities
Prepare new generator interconnection applications
Develop conceptual single line diagrams
Verify compliance with reactive power requirements
Develop steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit models for interconnection applications
Review ISO feasibility and system impact studies
Provide guidance to ISO Interconnection Customers
Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution using data, automation, and AI
Direct automation and process-improvement work, including calculation automation, technical-document summarization, and design-documentation generation
Guide when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
Oversee engineers who program or script to automate engineering tasks and review automated outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree
Minimum of 5 years relevant power systems engineering experience with utility or consultant
Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and transfer capability limits
Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, or TARA
No U.S. work authorization sponsorship
Valued but not required: stability analysis, electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD, short circuit analysis using CAPE or ASPEN, knowledge of PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE, and Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages
Willingness or ability to lead others using automation and AI tools in engineering workflows
Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued but not required
Oversight of engineers programming or scripting with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required
