About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Aid, participate in, and coordinate engineers and other professionals supporting license renewal and subsequent license renewal activities across the U.S. nuclear power fleet
- Turn LR/SLR commitments and aging management program requirements into field-executable inspection and implementation plans
- Perform visual inspections such as VT-1/VT-2 or similar
- Support procedure changes, preventive maintenance basis and frequency development, work order development and review, and nuclear program basis document updates
- Roadmap inspections and aging management activities to comply with NRC regulations, LR/SLR commitments, and applicable AMPs
- Define and maintain sample populations and inspection scopes
- Identify LR/SLR opportunities in online and outage work scopes using work management and planning systems
- Screen and analyze large work order and preventive maintenance lists to identify high-value inspection opportunities
- Coordinate with schedulers, planners, and field organizations to embed aging management needs into work sequences and outage plans
- Develop and maintain AMP basis, PM basis, and supporting technical justification documentation
- Perform data validation, engineering change tracking, and configuration control
- Support NRC commitment tracking and closure, including technical responses, inspection packages, and closure documentation
- Act as a technical expert for clients and NRC, explaining aging management strategies, inspection plans, and results
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and structural SMEs, program owners, and field leads
- Incorporate NUREGs, NEI guidance, and industry operating experience into program documents, implementation strategies, and inspection plans
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to staff engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- An associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10 or more years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear, industrial, or DOE facilities
- Proven experience managing and/or participating in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience managing medium-to-large critical projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience providing guidance, mentoring, and training to staff engineers
- Licensed Operator for a Utility
- Experience delivering accurate, high-quality technical documentation in a highly regulated environment
- Familiarity with engineering documentation systems, nuclear QA/QC protocols, and configuration management processes
- Strong systems thinking skills, balancing innovation with compliance, safety, and traceability
- Ability to work with work management systems, including work orders, PMs, and planning tools
- Ability to align technical requirements with implementable work packages and schedules
- Capability to collaborate with SMEs and field organizations using drawings, histories, prior WOs, and data
- Preferred experience with license renewal, SLR, and aging management
- Preferred experience with NRC, INPO, or DOE regulations and NRC audits or inspections
- Familiarity with NUREG-1800, NUREG-1801, NEI 95-10, NUREG-2191, NUREG-2192, NUREG-2221, NEI 17-01, and/or NUREG-1555
- Several years in nuclear work management, outage or online planning, system engineering, or maintenance engineering
- Practical understanding of mechanical systems and components, including pumps, valves, strainers, tanks, heat exchangers, and piping
- Ability to connect materials and environments to aging mechanisms such as loss of material, pitting, erosion, selective leaching, and coating degradation
- Background in mechanical maintenance/engineering, system engineering, NDE/inspection, chemistry/corrosion engineering, or field construction/trades
- Prior hands-on or close-support experience with plant modification or maintenance on mechanical systems in a nuclear or similarly regulated environment
- Experience working in cross-functional project teams delivering complex, multi-outage implementation scopes
- Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship
