About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Guide a team of structural engineers and interface with engineers from other disciplines and clients
Lead and mentor structural engineering teams on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades or modifications to nuclear power plants
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
Work as part of engineering and design teams on a wide range of projects for various clients
Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations
Develop specifications and work with designers on drawing development
Prepare, review, or guide structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and impactive/impulsive loading conditions
Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification

Requirements

What you’ll need

MSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
PE or SE license
Ten or more years of experience as a project-team member designing and analyzing industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, or ANSYS
Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ph.D. degree valued but not required
Willingness or ability to lead others using data, automation, and AI to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs
Oversight of engineers using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for engineering automation is valued but not required
Additional Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related learning is valued
