About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide a team of structural engineers and interface with engineers from other disciplines and clients
- Lead and mentor structural engineering teams on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades or modifications to nuclear power plants
- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
- Work as part of engineering and design teams on a wide range of projects for various clients
- Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations
- Develop specifications and work with designers on drawing development
- Prepare, review, or guide structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and impactive/impulsive loading conditions
- Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification
Requirements
What you’ll need- MSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- PE or SE license
- Ten or more years of experience as a project-team member designing and analyzing industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, or ANSYS
- Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ph.D. degree valued but not required
- Willingness or ability to lead others using data, automation, and AI to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs
- Oversight of engineers using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel for engineering automation is valued but not required
- Additional Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related learning is valued
