About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with structural engineers and engineers from other disciplines
- Ensure successful completion of project deliverables meeting technical, quality, and project controls expectations
- Serve as a technical liaison with clients and lead technical resource on projects
- Lead engineering design projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades or modifications to nuclear power plants and other safety-related structures
- Prepare design calculations and develop specifications
- Support designers with drawing development
- Guide others in developing engineering deliverables
- Perform structural analysis of safety-related structures under seismic and impactive/impulsive loading conditions using computer tools
- Potentially travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination and field verification
- Lead others in applying automation and AI to engineering workflows, with review of automated outputs
Requirements
What you’ll need- MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA
- Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards including ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
- Working knowledge of structural design and assessment for blast loads using single-degree-of-freedom tools, including SBEDS, in accordance with UFC 3-340-02 and PDC guidelines
- Experience designing and assessing structures subjected to explosive loading using explicit dynamic analysis in LS-DYNA
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship
- Ph.D. degree, power plant or industrial structures experience, on-site construction support experience, and PE or SE license are valued but not required
- Willingness or ability to lead others using automation and AI tools
- Oversight of Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel scripting for engineering automation is valued but not required
