About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform consulting-level work for nuclear power uprates
Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status
Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates
Manage resources/resource loading and develop task-completion and budget estimates
Review calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condensers/heat sinks, and plant hazards
Review task reports and equipment evaluations for clear, concise technical communication
Review equipment sizing, optimization evaluations, and selection for proposed power uprates
Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective
Interface with vendors for document reviews and equipment compliance
Lead and mentor junior engineering staff
Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawing preparation
Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction
Lead adoption of automation and AI-enabled engineering workflows, including review of automated outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need

BSME from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program required
Strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry
Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects
Practical knowledge in one or more areas including power uprates, pinch point assessments, turbine/generator/AVR/exciter refurbishments, heat exchanger replacement, isophase bus duct, transformer/switchyard, or NSSS systems licensing application
Excellent technical report writing skills
Knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment applied to project design
Strong interest in numerical computations and problem solving
Working knowledge of nuclear power plant mechanical engineering codes, standards, and regulations
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must not require employer sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S.
MSME and PE License valued but not required
Willingness or ability to lead engineers using automation and AI tools
Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel automation oversight valued but not required
