About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Extract, validate, interrogate and analyse data from multiple risk and reporting systems to identify trends, emerging risks, control weaknesses and areas requiring management attention
- Undertake thematic analysis across divisions, domains and non-financial risk types
- Translate complex information into clear, evidence-based risk insight and recommendations
- Produce management information, data visualisations and presentation materials for senior governance, including potential Executive Committee or Board-level reporting
- Coordinate risk appetite monitoring, validate metric submissions and identify positions outside agreed risk appetite
- Review Internal Control Profile information and support appropriate next steps and governance reporting
- Apply risk frameworks, policies and standards when undertaking monitoring, analysis and reporting
- Challenge potential gaps or non-compliance and provide evidence-based feedback
- Support risk governance through risk packs, meeting materials, action tracking, agenda planning, terms of reference and meeting minutes
- Improve risk reporting and analysis through data, automation, artificial intelligence and Microsoft 365 capabilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience analysing complex data to identify trends, themes, issues, risks and meaningful insights
- Experience working with risk, controls, governance, reporting or similar data in a regulated or complex environment
- Experience producing management information and presentation materials for senior stakeholders
- Experience coordinating data inputs, investigating gaps and following up actions with stakeholders
- Experience applying policies, standards or frameworks when reviewing risk, control or reporting information
- Equivalent relevant experience and demonstrable capability may be considered in place of a formal qualification
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including analysing and manipulating data, reconciling information and producing clear analytical outputs
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills, including creating concise and effective presentation materials from complex analysis
- Ability to extract and analyse information from multiple systems and data sources
- Ability to interpret data against policies, standards and risk frameworks
- Excellent analytical thinking

- Effective stakeholder management
- Strong attention to detail and focus on data quality, accuracy, completeness and consistency
- Good judgement and ability to escalate when appropriate
- Ability to manage competing priorities and recurring deadlines
- Preferred: experience with risk appetite, internal control assessments, risk reporting, attestations or certifications
- Preferred: experience using Santander systems, particularly Heracles, MicroStrategy and QlikView Risk Appetite Statement reporting
- Preferred: experience improving processes through automation or artificial intelligence
- Preferred: relevant qualification in risk management, data analysis or a related discipline
